Recently in Redmonk Website Category

I just upgraded this site to Wordpress 2.0.1, and my stats page at Dreamhost stopped working. This happened once before, and I had fixed it, so I had to go Googling for the answer again. Here it is for posterity:

Making stats accessible with htaccess.

I’ve also added it over at the Wordpress Codex:

Wordpress broke my site stats at Dreamhost

Site upgrade

Nothing really visible from out there, but redmonk.net is now running Wordpress 2.0. Yummy.

Flickr-powered pics

I’m playing around with FAlbum, a Wordpress plugin that pulls recent posts from my flickr account. It’s nicely done, though the documentation is somewhat lacking. I’ve added several recent pics to the top of the blog.

Dynamic Text Replacement

I’m trying out a new plugin, from coffe2code, called Dynamic Text Replace. It’s a simple macro plugin for |WordPress|.

So, that’s kinda neat.

Upcoming SiteLight

I’m finally working on my next SiteLight, an interesting if long-ish interview with Mark VenderWettering of brainwagon.org. I hope you enjoy it, I know I have!

All Archives Online

old redmonk.net logo

I finally got around to importing all the content from my old EditThisPage.com site. Thanks to the open-source release of Frontier, I was able to open my old redmonk.root and write a quick (1 hour due to extremely rusty usertalk - thanks for the help Seth) export script to RSS 2.0. I then used the import-rss.php script included with |WordPress| 1.5 to suck it all into the blog. Nice!

You can find the new content on the Archives By Month page, Dec 1999 - June 2000. Beware, I haven’t done much cleanup, so there are likely artifacts in the content leftover from its genesis in Manila (double-quotes on random words and phrases, <font> tags - shudder - etc.)

Comments Require Registration

As an experiment, I’ve changed the settings on this site to require registration in order to comment. It’s quick and painless — the link is at the bottom of the sidebar on the right.

Note: there is no neferious scheme to collect your personal information. All information will remain private.

Archives moved

I’ve moved the monthly archive list to its own location, linked in the navigation at the top right of the page.

Archives By Month.

How To Help page moved

If you’re looking for the page on how you can donate to our adoption fund, it’s been moved to adoption/how-to-help/.

Upgraded!

I just upgraded to Wordpress 1.5 - please be patient until I get the look and feel back.
