Manila, IE5

ManilaPalooza is today! We should be able to find a pointer to the ManilaPalooza webcast here.

I’ve downloaded and am using IE5 for the Mac. Being a weblogger can have it’s perks sometimes! (Thanks, Brent, Brad!) It’s nice in some ways- it fixes some of the most horrendous user interface bugs that 4.5 had, but introduces some nice, “normal-for-MS” inconsistencies… like using their own menu-highlight colors, instead of the one I chose in my appearance settings. Why can’t they leave well enough alone!

Bugaboo #2: IE5 doesn’t ship with it’s own Java VM. It depends on Apple’s MRJ - which I didn’t install with OS9. So I’m Java-less until I dig out my Mac OS install CD.
